How do you know it’s real?
Because it comes straight from the provider, not from the person sharing it. Protecht has no field, button, or workaround that lets anyone edit, upload, or fabricate a result. That’s enforced by the architecture, not just a policy someone could ignore.

What to know about sharing your status
Norms and laws around disclosing HIV status vary by state, and a number of states have specific statutes that address it, including some with criminal penalties in certain circumstances. Requirements and protections differ widely depending on where you live.

Is sharing my HIV status really free, permanently?
Yes. Finding testing locations and accessing and sharing your HIV status are free on every Protecht account, with no subscription required. Protecht+ unlocks the other eight tracked conditions and vaccination records.
Where does my HIV result come from?
Directly from your healthcare provider, through Apple Health. Once you’ve linked your records there, Protecht reads your result from systems like Epic, Kaiser, and Quest. You can’t manually enter or edit a result, which is what makes it trustworthy.
Does Protecht store my HIV status on its servers?
No. Your result is encrypted on your device and never leaves it in a readable form. Protecht’s servers only ever handle the logistics of a share, like confirming identity and logging when access happened, never the health data itself.
Can my partner save or screenshot what I share?
The shared view is read-only and expires automatically after 60 seconds. There’s no save, forward, or edit path built into the flow.
Do I need an Android phone to use this?
Protecht is currently available on iOS only. Android support is in active development.
