How can we help?

Protecht imports your provider-verified STI and vaccination results from Apple Health, lets you show them to a partner for 60 seconds with a QR code, sets testing and medication reminders, and helps you find testing near you.

Your results are stored only on your phone, encrypted. Protecht doesn't store your results.

Go to the Health tab → Get Medical Records. On the import screen, tap Import from Apple Health and grant access.

Protecht only imports STI and COVID-19 lab results and your vaccination records. Connect your providers in Apple Health first (see the next entry).

Protecht pulls your verified STI and vaccination records from your healthcare providers through Apple Health. Adding or removing organizations happens in Apple Health, not in Protecht.

How to add a healthcare organization:

1. Open the Apple Health app and tap your profile photo or initials in the top-right corner.
2. Tap Health Records.
3. If this is your first time, tap Get Started. Otherwise tap Add Account.
4. Type the name of your healthcare organization and select it from the list.
5. Tap Connect Account.
6. Sign in with your provider's patient portal credentials (not your Apple ID).
7. Confirm that you want to share your health data with Apple Health.

You can repeat this to connect multiple providers, for example if you've tested at different clinics or labs.

1. Open the Apple Health app.
2. Tap your profile photo or initials in the top-right corner.
3. Tap Health Records.
4. Tap the provider you want to remove.
5. Scroll to the bottom and tap Remove Account.

Removing a provider from Apple Health means Protecht will no longer have access to records from that organization.

Once connected, come back to Protecht and tap Get Medical Records (top-left of the Health tab) to fetch your latest records. Protecht does not update automatically.

A few things to know:

• Your records stay on your phone. They move from your provider to your iPhone through Apple Health, and Protecht reads them there. Protecht doesn't store your results.
• Your provider login is separate from your Apple ID. You'll need the username and password for your provider's patient portal (for example MyChart, Kaiser, or UCSF Health).
• Records may take a moment to appear. After connecting, give it a minute before tapping Get Medical Records.

Protecht imports lab results for HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, herpes (HSV), HPV, trichomoniasis, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, and COVID-19, plus your vaccination records. Other lab work in Apple Health isn't imported.

If you see No new records to import, your latest results are either already in Protecht or aren't one of these tests.

Results are grouped by test, and each group shows your latest result. Tap a test to see its full history.

Use Sort to order by newest, oldest, A to Z, or your own order. To remove records, tap Delete records, choose the ones to remove, and tap Done.

Immunization records are imported from Apple Health and appear in the Vaccinations section on the Health tab. Vaccination records are part of Protecht+.

Open a result on the Health tab. Tap the document icon to create a PDF, or the share icon to send a text summary.

Anything you send this way is an ordinary copy: it doesn't expire, and the person who gets it can keep or forward it. For view-once sharing, use Send Health Data. On the Free plan, you can export HIV results.

Care is your home for staying on top of your sexual health:

• Find a clinic: search testing sites by city, state, or ZIP code, or tap Use Current Location. Free for everyone. More about finding testing.
• Testing reminders and Medication reminders (Protecht+)
• Track symptom and Track connection (Protecht+). See the Care overview.

Go to Care → Testing reminders. Choose every 3, 6, or 12 months, or a custom date. Then set the start date, time of day, and whether it repeats. Reminders are scheduled on your phone, not by our servers.

Go to Care → Medication reminders. Choose Daily or On-demand (2-1-1). Set one or two dose times, or tap Log a dose now.

The refill tracker uses your last fill date and days supply to remind you before you run out. You can also save your pharmacy's name and phone number or website.

Go to Profile → Notifications. With Discreet notifications on (the default), reminders on your lock screen just say "Reminder" and never mention testing, results, or medication. Turn it off to see full details.

The Calendar tab shows your sexual health history by month. Protecht adds an entry automatically when you import results or share them. These entries can't be edited.

With Protecht+, you can also log symptoms and connections (date, time, sexual acts, notes) from the Care tab. Tap an entry to see its details or edit it.

Go to Share → Send Health Data. Choose which results and vaccinations to share, tap Generate QR Code, and let the other person scan it.

Want to check what they'll see first? Go to Profile → Edit Profile → Preview What Partners See.

If you have Protecht, go to Share → Receive Health Data and scan the sender's code. If you don't, point your phone's camera at the code and open the link. It works in a browser on any phone, iPhone or Android.

Either way, the results are visible for 60 seconds and then disappear from your screen.

In the app, tap Request +30s. The sender approves or denies the request on their phone, and you can ask up to two times.

No app can stop someone from photographing a screen. In the Protecht app, taking a screenshot cuts 20 seconds from the timer. Every view is labeled with the sender's name and the time.

Your results are encrypted on your phone before they leave it.

• App to app: results go straight from your phone to theirs. They don't go through Protecht's servers.
• With a link: the encrypted results travel inside the link. Protecht's server never stores your results. The key it holds for a link works once and is deleted within an hour. A link opens only once and expires after 1 hour if nobody opens it.

If Protecht can't make a code (for example, you're offline or you picked a lot of results), select fewer items or tap Use in-app only. With in-app only, the other person needs the Protecht app.

Go to Profile → Edit Profile to update your first name, last name, nickname, and birthdate. Next to each field, the Share toggle controls whether that field appears when you share. For your birthdate, you can show the full date, your age only, or neither.

Tap Preview What Partners See to check. These settings apply to every share.

• Free: import, view, share, and export your HIV results; find testing sites; receive shares. Sharing your HIV status is always free.
• Protecht+ (monthly or yearly): every result type, vaccination records, PDF export, testing and medication reminders, and symptom and connection tracking.
• Day Pass: a one-time purchase that unlocks every result type, vaccinations, sharing, and export for 24 hours. Reminders and tracking need a subscription. A Day Pass works only on the phone you bought it on, and Restore Purchases can't bring it back.

Manage everything in Profile → Subscription. From there you can also Restore Purchases or Redeem Offer Code. To cancel a subscription, go to iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.

Go to Profile → About → View Intro Again.

Go to Profile → About → Demographics. Every question is optional, and each one has a "Prefer not to say" option.

Go to Profile and toggle Face ID or Touch ID to lock the app with biometrics.

If you see an error, check Settings → Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID) and make sure biometrics are set up and not locked.

Everything Protecht stores on your phone is encrypted with AES-256: your health records, profile, reminders, and calendar entries. The key is kept in your iPhone's Keychain and locked to that phone.
