1. What Information Do We Collect?

Personal Information You Disclose to Us

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.

The personal information we collect may include:

  • Names
  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Contact preferences
  • Account details from Sign in with Apple (your name and email, or Apple’s private relay address)
  • Profile details you enter in the app, such as your birthdate
  • Optional profile answers: gender, age band, race, ethnicity, and free-text race. These are optional, and they are stored on our servers (encrypted) until you delete your account.
  • A log of when a share happened. The log does not contain the results that were shared.
Sensitive Information

We process health information that you choose to connect through Apple Health. See “Health Information” below.

Health Information (Apple Health)

Protecht reads health records, such as STI, HIV, and vaccination results, only after you grant permission in Apple Health. We use them only to show you your results and to share the results you choose to share. Your health records are encrypted on your device, with the key held in your iPhone’s Keychain. Protecht does not store your health records on our servers. We do not use health information for advertising, sell it, or share it with data brokers. We do record on our servers that an import took place on your account, but not what the records contain. You can change or revoke permission at any time in iOS Settings and in the Health app.

Payment Data

We may collect data necessary to process your payment if you choose to make purchases, such as your payment instrument number and the security code associated with your payment instrument. All payment data is handled and stored by Apple. You may find their privacy notice at apple.com/legal/privacy/data/en/app-store/.

Application Data

If you use our application(s), we may also collect the following information if you choose to provide us with access or permission:

  • Mobile Device Data. We automatically collect device information (such as your mobile device ID, model, and manufacturer), operating system, version information and system configuration information, device and application identification numbers, browser type and version, hardware model, Internet service provider and/or mobile carrier, and Internet Protocol (IP) address (or proxy server).

This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our application(s), for troubleshooting, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

Information Automatically Collected

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information.

The information we collect includes:

  • Log and Usage Data. Log and usage data is service-related, diagnostic, usage, and performance information our servers automatically collect when you access or use our Services and which we record in log files.
  • Device Data. We collect device data such as information about your computer, phone, tablet, or other device you use to access the Services.
  • App Usage and Crash Data. The app sends usage events (for example, which screens and features are used) and crash reports to Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. These events do not include your health records or what they contain.
  • Advertising Attribution. If you installed the app after seeing a Protecht ad in the App Store, the app sends a token to Apple to find out which ad campaign led to the install. That token is sent only to Apple. It is not combined with any health information.

2. How Do We Process Your Information?

4. Do We Use Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies?

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to gather information when you interact with our Services. Some online tracking technologies help us maintain the security of our Services and your account, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save your preferences, and assist with basic site functions.

Our website uses Google Analytics to track and analyze the use of the site. To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across the Services, visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. For more information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy & Terms page.

App

The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics for usage and crash data, as described in Section 1. We do not use these tools to tailor advertising, and we do not send them your health records.

5. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

In Short

We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice unless otherwise required by law.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). No purpose in this notice will require us keeping your personal information for longer than the period of time in which users have an account with us.

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible, then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

6. How Do We Keep Your Information Safe?

In Short

We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.

7. Do We Collect Information From Minors?

In Short

We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent’s use of the Services. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 18, please contact us at info@protecht.health.

8. What Are Your Privacy Rights?

In Short

You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.

Withdrawing Your Consent

If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the contact details provided in Section 12 below.

Opting Out of Marketing and Promotional Communications

You can unsubscribe from our marketing and promotional communications at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails that we send, or by contacting us using the details provided in Section 12. You will then be removed from the marketing lists. However, we may still communicate with you for service-related messages that are necessary for the administration and use of your account.

Account Information

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can do so in the app. Deleting your account also deletes the profile information held on our servers, including optional demographic answers.

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our legal terms and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.

If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, you may email us at info@protecht.health.

9. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.

California law requires us to let you know how we respond to web browser DNT signals. Because there currently is not an industry or legal standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.

In Short

If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have specific privacy rights.
